Chain Cleaning Sponge

Agree on citizenship but not on price :-) Can't find GT85 dearer than £4 (Halfords) and mostly around £2. £1.61 in Argos.

Both have a list price of £4.99 (even if https://www.lakes-cycles.com/gt85-spray-lube-400ml claims GT85 is £5.99 full price ). Both are widely discounted but that's neither here nor there really - it takes enough more GT85 in my experience that I expect the foam to work out cheaper.

They're rather harder than most sponges and it hasn't broken up yet.

Anyone have an idea of how many washes they will last? I've tried using the hard side of a regular dish sponge bit it lasted about 10 seconds before being reduced to a tattered mess.

3 1/2 years old. Hundreds of chain cleaning cycles with a bit of white spirit.

I was using one of those but I've switched over to using the Mickle method ™.

I wipe the Chain with a rag about twice a week. If the chain seems a bit dry I put some lubricant on it then swish the chainwheel around few times and wipe it a second time.

I find it is a lot simpler and just as effective.

Stick em in your washing machine, preferably with your dirty loin cloths.
