Challenged by Accy fuzz yesterday about my 'erratic driving'. I've now heard it was probably a case of mistaken ID!

Yesterday while in the retro clothing shop I work in part time, three coppers walked past my car, parked outside the shop and looked at it. By the time I'd got to the door they were half way down the street. If I'd got there in time I'd have asked them if my car is being mistaken for that class A drugs dealer's car and if so could they please make a note that my Fiat 500 is the one with the soft top/roll back roof, not the hard top owned by the drug dealer! Later as I walked through the town centre, two plod vehicles passed me, with both drivers of those vehicles looking at me. OK, I might've stood out because of what I was wearing, but they weren't friendly looks, even when I sarcastically waved at them! 😏

I've just edited/corrected this thread's title, from Challengeded to Challenged. Why didn't someone point it out to me! I can take it!😉

I didn't notice that. But while we are on the subject, there is a double R in erratic..... 👍

Thanks for that Brandane, I've just corrected that as well! I've had a bit of a virus the last month, having to call 111 with them sending an ambulance out to me two weeks ago. Last night I left my door unintentionally unlocked for hours, which isn't a sensible thing to do these days. I think this virus has affected my mind slightly!🙄

You've obviously had this virus for several years that we (members of CC) know of then?
But seriously, GWS Accy. Your new found fan club in Accrington need you! :okay:

I reckon you could get in the local rag, posing sad faced in front of your car. "Local Man Mistaken For Drug Lord and Gang Leader" could be the headline.

I reckon "Well known local style icon" would be more appropriate. He surely must be a face round Accrington.

I think anyone walking around Accrington for any length of time dressed like the dapper king of semi rural ex industrial small town shire will be well regarded as a force to be reckoned with!

Also you've accidentally reminded me I need to watch this film again soon.

Or bad cop, worse cop. I've have tied them in knots.

Mind you, they dont get the training or experience. When I joined the dibble the average copper had 16 years in the job - now the average copper has only somewhat short of 4, and a lot get drafted off to CID or specialist ops departments before they've truly learned how to be a fed in the first place.

The causes are political so down that road I shall not tread, but suffice to say the average copper is now relatively inexperienced and the cadre of longer serving officers no longer exists to show them the way or lead by example. You've got the metaphorical blind leading the blind here.

Yup
lad I grew up with was a copper
He always refused promotion or moves to other places because he felt he could do more good "on the streets"

last few years he commented several times that he was being pressured to take a load of course and apply for different roles
but he had realised that if he shouts at people - i.e. sergeant and inspectors - loud enough and often enough then they go away

My Mum reckoned that fact that she had heard on the Police radio (they had a scanner ) "we are not going into the pub until Shaun gets here" more than a few times was a factor

He had more than a few stories!
