Conspiracy theorists only concentrate on the spurious snippets that "Prove" their theory. Anything contradictory they simply ignore.

Is it all or nothing though?

Those on either side choose which parts they feel best make their case, and present them. Normally it's those on one side that get told they're wrong because...

People chose to believe the same news sources on other stories, but dismiss others when it clashes with their beliefs.

as far as trying to make point goes, that's about as vague as one can get.
