or have the cat tow you?
Good plan, but not when it's sick, poor baby!

5 1/4 kg? That's some serious hunk'o'cat.

I had a friend who transported her cat on her bike. Bungee'd the pet carrier to the year rack. Never had a problem, but it would need to be a very calm cat (even a 4kg throwing itself about could be very destabilizing)

Still, it's private hire you really need to look out for.

The obvious solution is to attach a vacuum cleaner to your handlebars and put the cat on a leash. No need to pedal.

I'm sure you could put Bigcat on a lead and walk him alongside while you cycle, it's not as if he's going to have trouble keeping up is it?

Well, 2 actually, had to take the cat to the vet this morning.

First taxi driver:
Hi, how you doing, where're you from, Italy, blah blah blah .... off today?
Me: no, going to work later on at the secc, I'll cycle it in half an hour, couldn't take the cat on the bike, ha ha!
Taxi driver: you cycle on the road? I've got a bike too, don't use it very often ...
Me, leaving him a tip: he, he, please don't run me over if you see me.
Him: noooooo, I always look out for cyclists, I'm very careful, it's them private hire you need to watch!

Second taxi driver:
Hi, how you doing, blah blah blah .... very nice to chat to you, thanks for the tip.
Me: he he, don't run me over if you see me on the road, I cycle everywhere when I'm not ferrying the cat
Him: you cycle from here to the secc? (it's only 5 miles)
Don't worry, I'm always very careful of cyclists, the roads are terrible, full of potholes, we are all too much in a hurry nowadays, that's the trouble, I get it when a cyclist needs to be in the middle of the road sometimes, ... it's them private hire you need to watch!
Both musta stole the cabs! These can't be normal cabbies.

Not all Glasgow cabbies are so considerate. Last chat I had was with a taxi driver who squeezed between me - I was sitting in the centre of lane 1 at the front of the traffic light queue - and the car in lane 2. This forced me to move in front of him before the lights changed after trying to explain that if there was room in the road ahead for a bike and two cars alongside each other, then I would have left it. He was still complaining when I passed him again in a queue a mile or so further on.

Yes, but he has a tendency to want to walk under hedges and bushes .... :B)
