I find the amount left over not to be worth saving.

If it's half a tin left, I would agree it's not worth keeping, but we can't put liquid paint into out household rubbish bins. Would mean a trip to the dump, so I usually end up keeping them, until they are dried up, then we can chuck them.

I'm not sure that makes sense but if it works for you then crack on.

If you paint frequently, or if you paint the whole house the same colour, it might. Or if you need to paint over spillages.
