I struggle with all this B7 lark - P to KN7 I get. Bough a couple of chess books, and I can't visualise what they're on about without getting a board out.

It couldn't be a black pawn on any move. While pawns start on row 2 black on row 7. Pawns only move forward ergo it is not possible for a black pawn to move to row 7.

I do know what it is, I just can't see it in my head without counting across and translating. Makes reading chess books (even) harder work

I learned both quite early on but, having used e2-e4 or the like notation more often since, sometime struggle picturing the older way
