God, I was thinking about that programme the a while ago and my memory of it was rather sketchy. Your post has brought it all back!

I became a teenager in 1970 and it was a brilliant decade. This was one of my faves!

Remember the first time Slade appeared as 'Skinheads' on Top of the Pops?
Along with all the other developing Glam pop bands. Thank God for Dr Feelgood.
I was told by a thirteen year old girl at the time that I would always look back to those times with happiness. She must have been a fortune teller!

One of my mates at school fancied Billie in the Double Deckers. Only later he realised Tiger was actually the one in our age group!

Billie, Gillian Bailey, now lives with her civil partner. The lass who played Tiger apparently reads the news on Radio Jackie.

No computers, not that much TV, no heating in your bedrooms (we lived in married quarters, there was scarcely any heating downstairs), hardly any shops without a fair bus ride, a sensible amount of toys at Christmas....but the world was your oyster
Get up at 5am, go on the airbase (disused) and collect field mushrooms as big as plates. Home, breakfast, clean your teeth if you remembered  then out..ALL day. We'd walk, explore, play, watch wildlife, climb trees, make tree dens, venture further than you'd ever let your own kids go nowadays. Miles and miles, just go where your nose took you. Sadly, that kind of thing claimed the life of my best mates 8 year old brother, but that was one terrible thing in years and years of un restricted childhood (i don't mean completely unrestricted...you did as mum and dad told you '
And then home at maybe 6pm for tea.
It wasnt all fantastic, i remember boredom.....but the good far far outweighed the bad.
