Not having a sweet tooth as such, anything I do like tends to be something special.Never to be forgotten is the "Tiffin" baked by the catering staff of Stephenson Hall in Sheffield in the late 80s!Ah,Saturday tea-wonderful!!Kept us going through the rigours of the coming night and was rumoured to be the crucial factor between a 2:1 and a First!

I wonder if you can still get those, I loved them.
Can only ever remember buying them from Marks & Spencers (dead posh eh?) Think that's the only thing we ever used to buy from there (birthdays and Christmas) the rest of the time a treat was a big bag of plain crisps with a splash of table vinegar! Kids today don't know they're born ;-)

when grandchildren were at mine, we invited a couple of french girls to play (all of them about 7-10 yrs old) we made crispy chocolate cakes. Parents of the french children said it was now a special in their house as they are never heard of them before !!

OMG, these poor deluded backward nations:ohmy:

For childhood parties it was Marks and Spencers chocolate teacakes, similar to Tunnocks but with a more substantial marshmallow filling and soft biscuit base.

My nanna used to make terrible ice cream. It was made with Carnation sweetened condensed milk, in an very old fridge with a door handle and a tiny internal freezer in a metal ice tray - stirred with a fork every hour. It mainly tasted of tinned milk and it was full of ice crystals.

I miss it so much.
Arctic roll was reserved for kids who had weekly fizzy pop deliveries. The only thing we ever got delivered was coal and milk!
Coal and milk can be used to make a lovely snack. :okay:
