Fab Foodie
hanging-on in quiet desperation ...

I must confess I quite like nature progs. Always something to learn, usually visually interesting, easy to watch with informative and likeable presenters ....
Then, all of a sudden there was Chris Packham, preened, polished know it all with a self-satisfied nay looking down his nose air of superiority. I have to confess that I found him annoying to the point that if he was presenting or on the radio I tended to 'switch-off', however bloody clever he was I just couldn't warm to he man. It seems I wasn't alone, he seemed to instill similar feelings in others ... oh no, not him again!
But then I chanced upon his memoirs on R4:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b079mwt6
Straightforward, unhesitatingly honest and often painful to listen to. The story that shaped the man has forced an about turn in my initial views. Those that have not yet heard this can't understand my about face.
So Chris, I'm sorry. I'll pay attention from now on.
