What next for my edification?

Read Great Expectations - the most moving book I've ever read.
Next read Tess of the d'Urbervilles - didn't like the ending.
Then read Jane Eyre - left me cold.

Moby Dick?
Ulysses?
Last Of The Mohicans?

I hear Moby Dick is very long and Ulysses is supposed to be incomprehensible. I think I may have read Last of the Mohicans or part of it. Not bad for an 18th century book. I may have a go at Moby Dick some day.

1984 is on the list. I read three-quarters of it when I was fifteen or sixteen but then gave up.
Did Animal Farm at school.
I may read Keep the Aspidistra Flying and The Clergyman's Daughter some time.
I'm sure I've read some of Arthur Conan-Doyle but I don't really want to read any more.

The Great Gatsby.

Or, if you want a bit more of a challenge, Middlemarch.

Read Gatsby - he was mixed-race passing for white.
Middlemarch is supposed to be George Elliot's best isn't it?
