Still got my Orange SIM from 99, in an Ericsson R310s.
Searched for the advert for the handset, but can't find it. Fella on a bike going into work on his day of, with the handset on the handlebars.

In still got an old Brickia communicator in a desk drawer gathering dust. In use my mobile so little it's not really worth having it.

DO NOT try this at home

I use mine to make outgoing calls but incoming it probably rings about 3 times a week and that's either Mrs V (when we've gone separate ways in town and need to meet back up) My Mum and recorded PPI messages but its handy to have to listen to music and play monopoly shame I'm paying £ for that privilege

I hung onto a Motorola analog phone for as long as I could due to coverage where I was working. Vodaphone used to keep ringing me regularly offering an 'upgrade' to one of those new fangled digital things, had to cave in eventually when the analog lines were shut down.

I bought a Nokia 3410 on a Pay as You Go deal in 2004......reluctantly. We were out on the road doing surveys and we needed to communicate sometimes. In those days only drug dealers and emergency plumbers seemed to embrace the concept of mobile communications. ( We were neither of those, BTW). It lasted until a year ago, largely unused. The ringer packed up four years but was repaired for £8 by the genius in the corner shop. He left a pubic hair behind the plastic display window. Last year it went completely tits up on a Night Ride. The display started putting up text upside-down. It died a few days later. I liked that phone. It felt good in my hand. In the whole nine years that I owned it, I pre-paid £120 for calls. It went in the bin with about £20 unused.

Here's my collection of old phones - all in working order

Old Tech.jpg

Motorola StarTac mr501, Motorola V3 (possibly the best non-smartphone?) and a Samsung D900i

I'm currently using an Xperia M but still prefer to carry the V3 when out for a ride as it's smaller, thinner and more robust when in my pocket or saddle pack.

I've got one of these and still use it. Got it in 2004 and it is still going strong and the battery still lasts a couple of days with moderate use.

It does look a bit battered compared to the one in the photo below. I'll see if I can take a picture of it........no wait it doesn't have a camera....... and even if it did how could it take a picture of itself

[edit] I love watching peoples faces when I put on the table in a meeting or when I get it out of my pocket to add a number etc

I've got two of those for sale on eBay at the moment.

I loved my V3. Part of me wishes I'd never given it away. I used the PEBL more though because it was easier to open one handed. Same software but not as robust as the V3.

I usually sell my old ones to those charity thingies that re-vamp them and send them off to Africa, but I appear to have a few still knocking about..
a really old Nokia summat or other from the mid 90s, I think, another couple of Nokia whatevers, a colour Palm Pilot (previously had a green-screen one... that should still be around somewhere) and a much more recent HTC.
No idea if they work... probably, if I could locate the chargers.
