Cracking a solo.
Saw somebody in front of me on the cycle path last night, I don't know if he had head phones or not, he just got further and further away from me despite all my very best efforts to catch him up.
BTW, I think you should have been more careful/observant too, I find quite regularly with joggers I'll slow right down, give them a shout of to your left/right but when I get level they frequently leap in the air in terror (I hope it's my presence and not my appearance that causes this) as they had no idea I was there. It is, as you may expect, the lone females that jump the highest.

This I can accept; generally I do slow down for joggers/dog-walkers etc, but in this instance thought it was safe to overtake the cyclist. Even with slowing down for the overtake i was probably travelling too fast - lesson learned. It was a misread, but everyone was fine (except my handlebars which needed readjusting!).

The DFT suggest that 2.5m is needed to safely pass another cyclist. Or that translates to around 1m from handle bar edge to handle bar edge.

Width of a cycle path then :wahhey::biggrin:

I think faster cyclists including headphone guy, sometimes forget to check behind them and leave room for overtakes because theyre so rarely overtaken in places where there arent so many cyclists as say London.

If you were a cyclist overtaken by a car driver who clipped you because you had "just wobbled" would you feel aggreived?

It doesn't matter if an overtaking cyclist used a bell, shouted or fired off an Airzound as they approached and passed another cyclist or pedestrian. They still need to pass with care. There is no justification or mitigation for barging past on a narrow lane/path/road at speed just because an audible warning was given IMO.
