Ok, we've missed Burns night proper, but we have a haggis in the fridge, and neeps, tatties, n' carrots a plenty, plus a healthy amount of whisky, so on Monday or Tuesday next week we'll have a wee celebration for the Bard and we'll raise a glass to the good stuff he wrote, and perhaps also to some of the utter shite he wrote too .

Jura Origin 10 year old

I competed in a Mountain Marathon on Jura in 1997 so every Christmas the MIL bought me a bottle of Jura Whiskey, I have had a few different one's the 10 year old was good, she's 95 now and buying Christmas presents isn't a priority, so I no longer get the Jura.

Quarter cask!

Edited: Dammit! Only a wee dram left in the bottle! Curse that evaporation!
Now empty, alas! My little Burns' night glass is (I believe) late 18th century, and has crudely engraved Jacobite symbols of oak leaves and acorns.
Oddly comfortable to handle, with a thumb and two fingers round the stem and the next fingernail engaging with a sharp shard of the unground pontil.

Whoops! Should have taken the shot from further away with more zoom. The distortion makes the glass look lopsided; it really isn't.
