Assos Fugu Socks. A little expensive but will last you a full winter. There the warmest socks I have used. Toasty...

Not as warm as Endura Coolmax liner socks 2 layers, Icebreaker thick hiking socks with 3 TOG Heater Eater socks over the top inside a Shimano MW80 GoreTex insulated winter boot. Very warm and dry INDEED.

Can we get a mod to sticky this thread, maybe get a best 'budget' winter kit option and best 'no expenses spared' kit option?

Even when it as -11 , the only cold bits were the fingers and toes. The exercise of keeping going keeps the rest warm.
So for the feet thicker socks and thick overshoes.
Hands, well wearing rubber gloves underneath is a waste of time, I read it some where! So I have my thick winter gloves, and when its really cold I just keep the fingers moving, like playing a piano all the time. On the 15 miles its the only thing that works for me.

Id like to see more budget solutions for cold weather wear as opposed to all these high end extortionate cycling specific brands
I laughed aloud at this post following the one that said: "thicker socks with a bread bag over the top". :-D
