So, a granddad goes to school to pick his six year old granddaughter up for a doctors appointment. The school gives him the wrong pupil and the granddad does not notice, they go on a bus ride to the doctors where the doctor examines the child and gives a prescription and the granddad returns the child to school. The parents only find out when the child mentions it indoors. The story in a nutshell however, here is a link

Might be "sad" in a different way. My father was about the same age when he'd forget to bring my daughter home from school, he'd go, return home, but not collect her. It was alzheimers.

I've often said in the chaos of collecting children from birthday parties "Shall we all just take one home then sort it out at school on Monday?"

At 6 years old I would have questioned it. I knew who my Grandads were.

I once had two children pushed into my car! It seems incredible when I think back now but it did happen and this is no word of a lie.

I pulled up at some traffic lights and a woman opened one of my rear passenger doors and thrust two children in the back of my car and without a word, walked off to her car, got in and drove away!

Now my own children, one in the front passenger seat and the other in the back knew these two children and the harassed mother, late herself, saw me making efforts to get my kids to the school bus they'd missed to the next bus stop and thought she'd use my services to include her kids in the same run. I made it and the other two kids got out along with mine who showed absolutely no surprise whatsoever at the turn of events and jumped on the bus without a word being said by anyone on the short trip.
