Microchip in my index finger.

On a serious note, my kids dropped our one and with 60 mins 3 £28 transactions had been done. Bank refunded them. I heard on the radio the card can carry on for quite a while before it gets stopped. We have a separate bank account to give the kids a card if they go out as so much now is card only.

I like contactless and use it a lot even for small transactions. I did consider Android pay but I can't bring myself to give Skynet my credit cards.

I found an old 50p piece the other day. I was shocked at how chunky and heavy it seemed. I find it hard to imagine people used to go round with these huge lumps of metal weighing down their pockets.

The sooner we get rid of cash altogether the better.
You don't want it, I'll have it.

Used to pay the police in Senegal, believe it or not.

I have a bucket full of old pennies, no wonder people were slimmer back in the old days as they had a workout just carrying a few bob around. 240 of the blighters to a pound.

I can't remember the last time I paid with a credit or debit card, online purchases excepted. But then I'm self employed, paid in cash so I always make sure I keep enough back each week for day to day purchases.

I was wary but there was a situation in London where I had to use the contactless

Now I am loving it

It’s brilliiant for weatherspoons you seem to spend less as I used to get the cash out and wither that away on other crap

Payments via contactless take two or three days to show on my online banking where as chip and pin shows up quicker... so when funds are tight i won't use contactless as it's harder to keep track of my spending. Other than that, it's fine.

how can scammers read the card? Do they have to wave a special device over my pocket regions?

That's weird as our second spare account is a Barclays and their App is instant, yet our main HSBC one is exactly like you say there is a lag.

Not sure if its the bank or the type of Card. Our Barclays (that we don't use as normal account) is a basic account and I think they used to call it Electron and every transaction gets dialled up to check for funds, its noticeably slower on the Barclays payments but their App is so much better I have been think of switching all the monthly spending money to this one and leaving the HSBC just for standing orders.

I've had several contactless cards for a few years now and so far have managed to avoid them being pinched...

There is a limit of £30 on each transaction so that does limit the usefulness of a stolen card to some extent.

Personally, I'm happy to enjoy the convenience of contactless in spite of the risks.
I think the opposite,if you were to find one what's to stop you keep going and spending 29 quid in various shops ?
