Conversion Plates for 540 type SPD Pedals

Does anyone make a plate that clips into a MTB type Shimano SPD pedal that allows standard trainers to be worn ?
Would like to go for short rides with the girls (10 & 8) without wearing my cycle shoes. I know there are dual type pedals available but just looking for a simple conversion plate.
If not i'll make one ....

I know two people who have turned up at our club 10 without their shoes. One was an ex pro and I noticed that he was wearing his JC sandals as he passed me.

The other rider was me on another occasion.

Not sure that it would have made much difference. I remember seeing his downstrokes on the pedals and thinking how much he seemed to be thrusting them down. He probably still did a "24" that night!
