Not travelled with one, but i have used the small gas canisters with the cooker ontop. It would fit in panniers well i think. It said 'Rambles Stove' on the box i think.
Used that many times and the canisters come in different sizes, not sure about getting them over in Europe though.
I have a hex block stove. Pretty good, you can use just one block and then put wood on to cook what you need instead, so the blocks last longer. The blocks do give off a smell, like fish, and it is really bad i think. The setup it comes with you fold down, so you can keep the blocks inside, aswell as some cotton wool(if you use a firesteel to light it) or Birch Bark. Not bad stoves really, i've boiled a kettle of water in a decent time on them.
