Cool Present

I have just seen the price. :stop:

Yes it's expensive "for a set of keys", but to me that's kind of the point of a present. I think we would all love to own something like that, but when it comes to it we just get a cheaper set of keys from B&Q or something for £10. If a couple of people club together for a gift like that then you'll love using them and the people who gave them to you will enjoy the fact that you do!

For example - I commute to work and would have loved to buy Ortlieb bags but got some cheap Aldi copies that are nowhere near as good. My partner very kindly bought me a set of Ortliebs for my birthday a year or two later. I probably never would have bought them myself but they're a great product that I love using so a perfect gift. :okay:

there's something rather appealing about tools in fitted cases. It becomes extremely annoying if you then lose on of course.

One of my seemingly indulgent at the time, but extremely worthwhile, buys was a set of Facom T bar allen keys which were something over £70 notes; sadly with no fitted case. They don't do a Torx set: I'd buy as well if they did

Or someone runs over the case and cracks bits off... DAMHIK :cursing:

Ouch ! That will annoy you every time you look at it. Have various sets of engineering tools and it's so annoying when there's a space in the case even if you never need the missing item. A mis-matched replacement is even worse !

And yes, I do know this is silly

Cheers everyone!

After stripping the bike back to the frame and giving it all a clean, I can honestly say the new hex wrenches are amazing. They are more tactile than the Halfords ones that I was using and they fit better too. Getting the pedals off with a stiffer and longer wrench is certainly easier.

I hear those who think they’re extravagant and are no better than the Halfords ones, but they mean a lot to me. Will remind me of them every time I use them.

You need to go and buy a book called Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. Skip the Zen bits and read the maintenance bits and your love of quality tools will make sense.

Heard of that, but never read any of it. Sounds like it’s worth a look.
