I paid a tenner last week whilst another shop locally quoted £12. Just check the price is for the job not per half hour or anything daft like that.

well to be fair, it was ten years ago... and in Cockermouth, darkest Cumbria.

"What be this contraption?" said the bloke as he noticed the rear derailleur!

I had one done about 2 years ago at my LBS. They actually replaced a spoke and trued the wheel and charged a tenner, which i was very happy with.

Tools about £7-8 for a decent one, then it's free and can be done whenever you want

I paid £5 last time , most of the time i just true it myself as a spoke key is not expensive .

Learn to do it yourself. Please. £10 is just a contribution to the shop overheads so you can hardly blame them for charging that - but it's (usually) only a 5 minute job.

I suppose it'll depend on the amount of truing needed, its been a while since I got a lbs to true my wheels but iirc the last time it was a new spoke and wheel true for £7
