My mates and I used to go to the Albany in Earlsdon which was frequented by some future Coventry cultural icons: Random musicians -> The Automatics -> The Coventry Automatics -> The Specials; Hunky young guy who wanted to be an actor -> Drama School -> UK TV -> Hollywood (Clive Owen).

I used to go to the Albany in Earlsdon, probably the late 1970's.

We were almost certainly there at the same time! Our circles of friends were definitely close but I don't know for sure whether they overlapped. I was the tallish drunk with very long frizzy dark hair (and sometimes a beard as well) - imagine Ian Gillan crossed with Charles Manson!
