Evening all,

After chasing a clicking noise for months that has literally driven me insane, I have now exhausted all options and the book now says cracked frame.

My frame is a trek 1000 running a campagnolo mirage setup & hollow bottom bracket. I cannot find another 1000 frame anywhere!

My question is, does anyone know what frames my setup can also be used on?

Cheers

Defo not the front dr cable hitting your pedal?
Chain ring not being perfectly round or true and touching front dr?
Bottom bracket worn or not tight?
Brakes touching rims/ tyres?
Rear hub?
Rear dr not adjusted properly?
Chain too short?

I have tried everything, changed pedals, bb is brand new and bearing a sweet, not my shoe lase, all cables are snipped and tucked away, seat post fine, hanger fine.

Basically I have done everything the book has told me to, and it leads to a cracked frame.

The click sounds when I accelerate or up a incline on the down push and release of the pedal.

If the frame had been cracked for months you'd have found out by now. Have you stripped it down and inspected it closely?

Hub bearings fine, all brand new.

It's now annoying the people I go out riding with now.

I have had many bike guru's look at the bike and they don't have a clue.

Rubbing spokes can cause a noise, so can handlebars if the clamp bolts are not greased.

Going back to your OP, there doesn't appear to be anything fancy about the components you have on the existing frame, so I'm guessing any (for most values of "any") frame should do the job. I'm assuming the bottom bracket is conventionally (English) threaded.

Did you GT85 the spokes?
I had a similar sound just before a rear spoke broke.
Have you checked the headset?
If you've eliminated all the possible causes then whatever remains however improbable must be the culprit(copyright S. Holmes)

If you really believe it to be the frame would an X-ray show the crack?

Greased the rear QR? I had a terrible clicking under standing climbing power, and it drove me mad. I changed the wheel set and it went away, so I put the original back in and it started again. Then greased the cassette mounting and QR and bingo it went away.
