my alu frame/carbon fork bike is creaking when the bars are turned. there is no apparent play in the headset (front brake on and rocking).
any ideas?

Moral of the story: listen to the bike!

- on my new (at the time) carbon forked Al framed bike, and like the OP, after thinking the worst, and checking out everything else, it was the cables rubbing against one another where they cross in front of the head tube. Minor rearrangement, plus an application of a tiny amount of WD40 to the outers where they touched and problem solved. I expect a touch of Pledge or similar on the cables would work too.gbb said:When i first read the post, i thought..ah ha ! ive had that ........
