I've just put together a single speed bike (with @Andrew_Culture) with drop brakes. I'm looking into adding some crosstop brakes, but I have a few questions:

Is there any difference between bmx brakes and crosstop/interrupter brakes?
And can anybody recommend any brakes, or is it all a bit of much of a muchness?

I'm planning on doing this, essentially: http://www.cyclistno1.co.uk/features/maintenance/retrofit-cross-top-brake-levers.htm

Ta very much!

i might have a pr of cross top levers will check next time in spares box

BMX brakes, as in a splitter and 2 cables? I'd go for the crosstops for the image you show, they're light years ahead of the old suicide levers and are pulling on the cable directly so have enough oomph to stop you properly.

It is that very stopping which I am concerned about...!

Not sure how bmx brakes work, but was going for two rather than one. Someone was telling me on Monday that BMX's tend to have one break, if any, these days ...

Crosstop brakes are good. Sufficiently so that I have them as the only brakes on my fixed.
They're just a simplistic brake lever really.
