Cycle queue etiquette?

Does @biking_fox have a specific Manchester junction in mind? Assuming that's Manc UK.

Today it seemed to be every junction up Oxford road, if they couldn't jump it, there was a push to the front.

The fact it's Oxford Road doesn't surprise me, as a general rule I either avoid it, despite the fact the office is on it, or use the road not the cycle lane. I reckon a bus driver is going to have a coronary one day whilst shouting at me.

I fixed swords to my hubs Boadicea-style. Gruesome but I always get to the front. And everyone seems very tolerant of my wish to hang on to my Celtic roots. So accepting. Lovely most commuters although numbers are dwindling for some reason.

Well, you could be late for an appointment perhaps.

But it's irrelevant anyway - even if you're in a hurry, that doesn't give you the right to jump the queue. Unless you have blue flashing lights on.

If the rider is faster then i have no big issue with pushing to the front.

The ones that really annoy me are the slow ones who push to the front, then hold everyone up, they all eventually overtake, then they do the same thing again at the next set of lights.

On oxford road there are precious few places to overtake in the cycle lane itself - so if you don't move forward you end up doing 7mph behind a mobike!

Would Hexleybeef happen to be a lesser-known Cambridge suburb? It seems that rusted old BSOs rolling slowly to the front is etiquette here, usually followed by the grinding of seized-up chains on worn out sprockets as they wobble away

I've never encountered a busy cycle junction on my commute here. Although I've been in an ASL with 2 others twice this week. That was pretty unusual in Belfast!

In Bolton you are generally in the ASL with cars, buses etc. Very rarely see another cyclist!
