I realised that I haven't even heard of most of the sitcoms listed or added in the comments. I am now fighting the temptation to google them...

If you want to feel included, you could talk about that weird "Friends for Dinner" thing that the Germans watch every year at Christmas. (I think it's English!)

I suspect that what you are really saying is that you think it is crap, so the viewing figures showing many people disagree aren't a valud measure.

I'd say viewing figures are a measure of popularity, not quality. Very different things.

I think you mean "Dinner for one", which is an oddity. Not least because the actor who played the butler hated Germans...

Not really, when you are talking about sitcoms. The whole purpose of a sitcom is to get as many people laughing at it as possible. So high viewing figures mean it is fulfilling its purpose, and therefore is "good".

Yeah, I do think it's a rubbish show. It's poorly written and relies on tired tropes.

Viewer wise, it peaked in 2014 and has been in decline since then. Brendan O'Carroll has tried all kinds of things to justify the show.

Like I said, there's a reason it's on at the time it is.
