Was 2.4 Children any good? It didn't look like it would be good, but I only gave it ten seconds.

9 secs too long

This might be deemed heresy but I found very little to laugh at in Only Fools and Horses; the almost-slapstick fate of that chandelier was an exception. I can't stand all the reruns.

And much as I respect the creativity of the Monty Python team, the episodes have dated terribly. The movies fare better.

Sorry.

EDIT: Damn, I had a moan about OFAH about 4 years or 9 pages ago!

(FTFY) Yes, it's great isn't it? I hate the "Talent" shows, and initially assumed Strictly was similar; but when they get a likeable celeb on (and I can't believe anyone dislikes Blind Chris) it is a very watchable programme.

BUT .. isn't this a Sitcom thread??

indeed , my one post off topic , mrs cm watches soaps. game shows, talent shows etc none of which i can abide which is why i am on here so much .......

I bought the complete series of On The Buses. My surname is Varney. My brother was known as 'Reg' to his friends and colleagues. When we were growing up people kept on referring to On the Buses, because of its star, Reg Varney. I don't think we ever watched it. I watched the first series on DVD and the first episode of the second series, and did not feel like watching the rest. My observations: 1) the inspector was a top man who was right in nearly everything; 2) that was a very odd domestic setting - middle aged man living with his old mum along with his middle aged sister and her husband; 3) Reg Varney looked about 55 but acted someone about 28 - that is quite a stretch.

I never really got on the buses. Gratuitous use of the word "crumpet" seems an odd basis for a sitcom.

So this isn't the place to discuss "Only Connect"?

Back in the 1960s there was a horrible show called "Family Affair." It was promoted as a "children's show". Brian Keith as a single dad, Sebastian Cabot as their nanny (manny?), and two curly-headed kids who were, apparently, moderately retarded. It was painfully boring, but I was required to sit on the couch while it played, unless my mom got a phone call or something and I could escape.
