The Office, not everyone's cup of tea but original and cleverly written.

Then there's the American version, dumbed down into more of a standard sitcom for it's intended market and not very good.

Yesterday I saw an episode of an Australian version of it, it plumbs deeper depths than the hole that you would need to dig to actually reach Australia. Surely Ricky Gervais isn't that desperate for a bit of cash, unless he's not actively involved with it anymore?

I read yesterday that Malcolm in the Middle is being brought back. I didn't understand it being popular the first time around so why it's coming back is anyone's guess.

I can't say I was a huge fan but his Dad's character, Hal, was brilliantly played as downtrodden and put upon by Brian Cranstoun, who's career suddenly took off from there.

Yeah, it's mad that's the show that kind of launched him. He'd been around for ages but only ever in bit parts.

Interesting fella Cranston, he was a minister early on to support his acting.

Personally, I'm not bothered how sitcoms new seen now, most will either not pass the test of time, or be considered too racial or laddish etc etc. Its how you saw them at the time.
Most of the American stuff, quite naturally doesn't appeal to many Brits so that's a food few rejected back then.
Most of the poll didn't appeal to me back then except perhaps

On The Buses (seemed good harmless fun at the time)
Love Thy Neighbout (meh, didn't hate it, didn't love it)
Green Grern Glass was ok, thats all.

Most of the rest...nah.

We used to watch Bless This House back in the day, parents used to love Sid James, so we all had to endure it for the sake of domestic peace. A teaser for you - what's the connection between Bless This House and Dr. No, the first James Bond film of 1962?
