Does anyone remember soap on a rope?

Is a 'soap' defined by a standardised cast, or a continuous storyline??

If the former, I suggest M*A*S*H
A relatively consistant cast, some humour, some sadness, a morality to it

None of them. The only soap type programme I watch is Holby City and occasionally Casualty.
Too 'close to home' (ie; work)
We gets lots of patients/relatives making the comparison

Then we have to tell them, we can't cure all their issues in 50 minutes, so "Please go sit in the waiting room again!"

We're more like Scrubs!!!
We definitely have a Perry Cox!!!!

And on a M*A*S*H analogy, one of the A&E Consultants still watches it, as he did as a medical student
He & I often decide which character is BJ, Trapper, Hawkeye, Charles, etc...

We certainly have a Charles Emmerson Winchester (the 3rd)
Our 'Hotlips' is...……………………….

When I was in the Feds it was normal to watch Casualty/Holby as The Bill was so unrealistic. Conversely, the ambo crews would usually watch The Bill because Casualby was so unrealistic.
