Not really because "they feel self conscious" isn't the only reason why people don't use them - or even a particularly significant one.

We could use the rest of the freed up space to plot the entire universe.

Good idea. While we are at it, a lot of threads could be replaced by this. It ticks a lot of boxes: undertaking, casual objectification, even helmet cameras.

Honestly, @Shaun could have closed this site to new posts in 2008, confident in the knowledge that everything that could be said, had been said.

@mjr I agree with your reasoning, although I am also finding that I feel self conscious now when I'm not wearing one due to the armchair idiots who haven't ridden a bike in 3 or 4 decades but who still feel qualified to lecture me on the matter.

Keep calm and wear caps: sensible everyday cyclists with other reasons are massing near your borders with Cambridgeshire, North Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, ready to recapture Northamptonshire in the near future!
