Hi can anybody give me some advice. I have been wearing contact lenses under normal cycling glasses but they keep falling out. I need glasses for both distance and reading. I bought some from spex4less which were great but could not read my garmin so sent them back has anybody had similar issues. I spoke to my opticians but they couldn't help.

You could try optilabs who specialise in glasses for sports equipment (they mostly/only do inserts rather than direct glaze however, in the non full framed models, can get direct glaze in some of the full plastic frames it seems)

They do varifocals e.g. http://www.optilabs.com/site/product.php?pfid=0,8,11,17&prodid=86
but presumably insert not direct glaze unless the full plastic frames

Personally, I don't like the inserts so am on the hunt for single vision direct glaze that aren't £300+ and not so heavy framed

Just bought a pair of Rudy Project's after a recommendation from someone on here, and they're very nice. Expensive, but I'm hoping with the interchangable lenses and prescription insert they'll last a good few years.

My distance vision is fine, but close up vision has gone to hell in a hand basket. So that I can cycle without hitting the scenery and read my Edge 200 I wear a pair of bi-focal safety specs from a company called Straightlines. They work, don't look too bad, and even I can afford them.

I'm thinking of trying the other way and using contacts.

Currently I have some Tifosi glasses with an insert, glazed by a local independent. Whole job was done for £100 and it works well.

The problem is my eyesight is not good for distance or close ie reading and as I use my garmin edge all the time I need both

Thats why i chose varifocals, i had problems seeing the speedo etc in the car and in the distance, especially at night the red lights of other vehicles was just a red haze, Varifocals solved the same problem with me, i used (dare i say it) Specsavers a few years back and also had the reactolite added for the sun.

Did you have that fitted into sports glasses or just normal glasses. If normal glasses how do you get on with wind, bugs etc
