Cycling in Cuba

There's an article in The Guardian about cycling in Cuba. During the oil embargo between 1991 and 1995 people had to resort to walking or cycling, the Government even imported 1.5 million bicycles from China. Deaths from diabetes fell by half and from coronary heart disease by a third.

That's the last thing a developing country needs - people living longer!

Apparently there's a big problem because the parts for the bikes aren't being made anywhere in Cuba so imports are still having to come from China. Mostly beyond normal peoples financial means..
