That's the received wisdom, I'd personally disagree. I bought 6 pairs of DHB Aeron sport @ £35 each; I could have easily spent 4 or 5 times that on assos or rapha for example. But they worked fine for me during 60 hours in the saddle over 4 days, not problems at all, so there is really no reason for me to spend any more.pay a bit of money for these, any other apparel you can save on but not shorts!
You need to spend the amount you need to spend, but if you can find the right things at a discount price go for it. If you are having problems with saddle sores etc, then you do need to spend more money
(mind you, I happily did a couple of 200kms in these enduras , so I guess I'm an outlier)
