Well obviously you don't need to wash them on days that you don't wear them

Isn't the day you don't wear them the very day you should wash them. After all you won't wash them when wearing them.

If you Northerners are as 'ard as you make out and really went 'commando' there'd be no washing at all involved.

I read that and thought, hey heres a lightweight but positive story about why cyclists wear lycra for Telegraph readers.
It is important that its written by a Telegraph insider who is changing her mind/perception so might change a few readers attitudes.

Slightly prurient and silly but no point getting worried about - it is clearly aimed at an audience who aren't cyclists.

Haha, we're tight, what do you expect?
I don't see the point in doing lots of small washes when I can do one big wash. Or should I say, wesh
I hand wash my shorts after each ride if there’s not enough laundry to do a machine wash. Only takes a few minutes.

I know where my towel is
Still wearing my muddy fox padded mountain bike shorts on the commute here, and I go "commando" as it were as well, although I have also fallen back to wearing footy socks now that it has got a bit chillier. :cold:

I do one hot wash a week for the cycling/running gear, but then I also put the sweaty stuff in a quick 30 min wash in the evenings to freshen them up a bit and take advantage of the spin cycle, as they come out drier after a spin cycle and will actually dry overnight (they don't dry properly if I just hang up after a ride, I sweat too much  )...
