Never been in one but my work colleague bought one . Raves about it , in terms of value for money . However I’m guessing they are built to a price point ? Cabin noise louder or not noticeable? Renault engines usually quite reliable ?

Yes value for money I think the Dacia is unbeatable. Certainly they are built to a price point but the finished product is more than sufficient for our requirements. I did read that if you bought an equivalent Clio it would cost 6000€ more.

Isn’t every mass produced car built to a price point?, just not all the same point

My son-in-law retired from his sales rep (car supplied) job about 4 years ago. He needed a car, but, wanted something reliable, but, not too pricey. I pointed him to Dacia, he bought a one year old Sandero. He is very happy with it.

Until it breaks after 10 minutes. Most un-reliable cars ever.

Don’t disagree with some of the reliability issues. Best way to own is lease/pCP or brand new and sell on at 3yrs lol . I love mine wether I would buy another is another matter . I have good indie garage who specialises so it’s helpful . However there is nothing out there that IMO can do as much or transport . 7 adults no bother in my Disco.

All the mechanicals and switchgear is well tested on former Renault models so reliability is very good.
The interior finishing is basic and less plush than more expensive cars, but it's all well put together and certainly doesn't feel bargain basement. Yes, slightly noisier, but not an issue.
My summation is that they're reliable, cheap to own and run, comfortable, and competent - does everything well enough without fuss.

Had a test drive in a 6 year old Logan MCV a few weeks ago and it was good apart from a loud thrumming noise reverberating around the cabin even at low speed. I couldn't have coped with that, but otherwise I might have bought it.

That's a shame. Mine didn't have that.

Why would anyone want anything else once they have reached that certain age

I think the Disco is the most reliable of the bunch - the Range Rovers not, especially the 'handbag' versions

Hardly. Have you been in a modern Skoda - identical to the VW/Audi. Exactly the same cars, some slight trim differences and panels, but the same mechanicals.

With the Dacia's you'll see a lot of switchgear/screens from the smaller Renaults (Clio)/Nissans (Micra), but they tend to leave out some of the additional electricals, which reduces the cost.

They are marketed as 'supplied with the things you need'. They score worse on NCAP as they don't have all the idiot driver aids - radar, lane change, forgot your underpants kit.
