On a serious note then.

I could never dig Tubular Bells, even though I felt I ought to. Some brilliant musicianship, but it just didn't tug my rug.

Pink Floyd never did anything after Sid "ducks"

It sounded extremely good if you were sitting in a student room at three in the morning having smoked far too much Afghan Black......maaaaan.
it was impossible to smoke too much of that. and I have never ever been lying face down on the floor in my living room holding onto it for dear life with DSOTM playing and my brother and girlfriend laughing as I explained i was going to fall off if I let go. no certainly not me !

Has the CD quality improved at all?

This is one of the albums that really shows the lack of depth of digital compared to vinyl.

Dean Martin used to say that if you can lie down without holding on you're not really drunk.

I'm proud to say, having heard tracks off it from friends years ago, I have never listened to the whole thing. Pink Floyd not my kinda thang.

It's a good album, but certainly not my favourite PF album. DSOTM marks the point where Pink Floyd ceased to be an interesting and often challenging band and found mega stardom slap bang in the middle of the road. DSOTM was not only the blueprint for the future of Floyd, but also a blueprint for middle of the road middle aged dad rock that perpetuates to this day.

I'd much rather listen to A Saucer Full of Secrets, Ummagumma, Relics, Atom Heart Mother or Obscured By Clouds.

When I ditched all my vinyl

a) I didn't need a re-inforced shelf anymore
b) I never replaced DSoTM

Out of deference to DanBo, I'm going to say that that was because it was an oversight.
