Paul Lim just won a match at the age of 71.
His first world champs was in 1984 and Luke Littler will still be younger in 50 years time.
Quite amazing.

Lim played his round 1 match, that he won, three days ago on Saturday.

Your post made me think he had won his second round match, which from memory, I believe is against Nuke! :laugh:

My memory was bad, but would be another massive upset, Lim has Hump in round 2!

The Hood v Noppert match last night was one of the best games of darts you will ever see.

Lots of big names have gone out already but the top 3 are still in it.
The Humpries match last night was superb. What a rollercoaster.

Luke Littler was on fire, his scores were phenomenal.
I am slightly biased as he used to live in a 2 bed house near where I live. He still lives in Warrington but in a slightly bigger house now

PDC has always been a bit of a bear pit compared to the “best of order” in the BDO.

But they do need to be careful that crowds don’t ruin it for the players and fans.

Booing is ok between points. But whistling and booing when the player is throwing doesn’t seem fair.

Set to be an amazing final between 2 young brilliant players.
I am rooting for Littler, perhaps the Warrington connection has something to do with that.
The prize money is staggering (though minute compared to some footballers).
Winner will get £1M
Runner up... ... £400K
1/4 finalists......£200K
If (a big if) anyone gets a 9 darker gets a £60K bonus.

Where's me arrers?

Absolutely relentless. Always seems like he has another level if he needs it.

Well that was remarkably boring and uneventful.
Congratulations to Littler for being a back to back champion and making it look so easy. 😀

Serious question ie not being picky etc.
Have you ever played serious darts as in at least being in a pub team ?
In my younger days I was a half decent pub player (never a very good one) and I was glued to the TV last night. Even when the forthcoming result was obvious I was mesmerised.
The old unanswerable question comes to my mind......... I wonder how he compares to eg Jocky Wilson or Bobby George etc.

Darts is a sport where it's possible to compare performances across the eras and at his best Jocky had a 3 dart average of just over 85 which wouldn't cut it nowadays.

Maybe the arrows are sharper, maybe the beds are more receptive and the wires less problematic and perhaps sight lines to the board are better without smoke.

One thing's for sure, I can't see Van Morrison writing a song about Luke Littler any time soon.

The heavy scoring is absolutely amazing these days. You just can’t afford to make mistakes, a common pub score of 26 is instantly punished with a 180.
They also seem to be able to hit almost every outshot.
The three dart outshot combination must be so demoralising when you are on 40 and your opponent takes out t18 t15 bull.

At one time there used to be a prize for the highest outshot of the tournament. Dennis Priestly won in 1994 for example with a 160. This year there were approx 15 170s in the tournament!

That said, Littler's performances are not unprecedented. He's fairly well down the list of WC tournament and match averages. I do think he has higher levels than were required to win it this year, but it would be wrong to say he's currently better than prime MvG or Taylor. In 2017 MvG averaged 106 for the tournament and did 114 over 8 sets in his semi!
