Evernden cycles in paddock wood have their last nomad for sale at £800 down from £1400 i think. I saw it on saturday. Looks about a medium size frame. Includes front and rear racks.

According to the 2013 Dawes book and the LBS they no longer make the Nomad or the Horizon now.
The only have the Ultra Galaxy (disc brakes) Super Galaxy (disc brakes) Galaxy Classic, Galaxy Plus (disc brakes) Galaxy, Galaxy Cross (disc brakes) Galaxy AL and the KaraKum

Why are you looking only at a galaxy? I was looking for a touring type bike and I found them very expensive for what you get. I ended up with a Kona honky inc for 1000gbp from my LBS but you can get them from here for 925 http://www.evanscycles.com/products...oogle&utm_medium=froogle&utm_campaign=froogle
If you look at the specs it just wins out hands down and with disc brakes can take loaded braking much better than calliper systems.

Gearing is all wrong fella. Like to see you get your honky up a half decent hill / mountain when loaded up with gear.

I bought a galaxy about three years ago. Its done a couple of thousand miles and I love it. It's comfy and reliable what more do you want?
Watch the sizing though some people I know have struggled with dawes sizing and I found that I (5'11) needed the largest size and an extended stem because of my longer torso, it just gives ,me enough stand over without me singing soprano:laugh: Dawes have gone for a compact frame on the new ones now so you might not have a problem.
I got mine on a cheap deal, not sure Id pay RRP

I live in Cornwall and it's loaded sometimes for work. I go up 1x 8% 2x 10% and a 14% on my route to work...

I went for the 'bog standard' bottom of the range one. I wanted the bar end shifters so I could use a bar bag and at the time spa cycles were selling them for about £600 IIRC. I tried the 57cm but it was too cramped so I bought the 60cm (and still had to put the longer stem on). I have about an inch gap between the top tube and 'me bits' when I stop, which is fine. The saddle isn't at its lowest either.
I've just had a look at Dawes' website. It now lists the 58cm as it's largest size, but they now have a sloping top tube so I don't know how, if at all, that will affect the overall sizing.

The Galaxy Plus has the Bar end shifters, I have never used bar end shifter or disc brakes but from what I have read better stopping power.

I have a 2012 Horizon and at 5'10" I use a 53cm bike with a 120mm stem. This is how much seatpost it leaves: -
