Many modern frames are throwaway once the bearing cartridges become unacceptably loose in the head tube and/or fork. There was a reason for the traditional pressed-in cups, which do not wear the frame as there is no movement. The bike industry tends to forget lessons learnt 100 years ago in its pursuit of sleek looks and lighter weight.

Looks like De Rosas only come with a two year frame guarantee, that's actually a bit scary for the price of them.

Yes definitely the top bearing is not sitting flush either suggesting frame wear in this department as well

The wear is caused by riding for a fair time with a loose headset, allowing the cartridges to move round on their seats. The OP does not say if he has had the bike from new or bought it used.

Hi
Yes the bike was second hand and on reflection poorly maintained. The chain was stretched, bb bearings and cups worn and now the headset.
Has anyone any thoughts on using epoxy resin to build up the headset frame?
