Deda Dog Fang or Third Eye Chain Watcher?

I posted about this recently and got some good advice. Since then I have discovered that there are some devices to prevent what I now know to be called "chain drop".

Deda Dog Fang:

Third Eye Chain Watcher:

This one gets mixed reviews, mostly concerned with the flimsiness of the plastic. There's another device, which attaches to the actual derailleur but I can't find any pics of it.

Has anybody got one of these?

As I'm at work I don't know what size I would need to order for my Specialized Roubaix. Anybody know?

This:

is the daddy of anti-chainsuck devices. Better made, from more robust materials, and more adjustable than any other.

I trust one to protect our Cannondale tandem, and that is a very expensive frame.

Is this what you were thinking of - in a different price league i'm afraid - 26.99 from Wiggle (+ 2.99 if you need a 'hard to fit kit') The Dog Fang works fine, by the way, but measure your seat tube carefully, and they only fit circular section tubing. (edit: The one above is the K Edge)

Thanks! The K-Edge is what my neighbour has but that won't fit my derailleur. The N-Gear device looks perfect and I shall be home by 3.45 measuring my seat tube before phoning the shop to order for tomorrow's post!

Thanks again for your help.

Update: well, I was ready to buy an N-Gear but when I measured the frame I realised that being carbon the tube begins to flare out a couple of inches below the derailleur mount, which means that no device that attaches with a band will fit. Spent 30 minutes messing around with pliers and a strip of aluminium and managed to bend it into something that might work, attached to the two unused bottle cage bolts but it looked bloody awful so I threw it away. There's definitely a niche in the market here for a device to fit fat tapering carbon tubes.

The K-Edge from Wiggle won't attach to my derailleur so that's out - quite a neat solution though.

The thinking cap is still on!

They are cheaper from Zepnat - £4.75 http://www.zepnat.com/component/pag...acturer_id,0/option,com_virtuemart/Itemid,48/
and you can get the fitting instructions on the Deda website, but ColinJs' review makes it more clear where they should be positioned.

- what sort is it? Any idea?
Can't tell from looking at mine, tbh they all look the same to me. Anyway I would imagine it varies according to bike, I bet the top end bikes like the Roubaix will get better accessories than my Tricross.

the k-edge is the best you can get, the legend that is bradley wiggins uses it so it cant be bad...

why wont it fit, you can get screw extension kit things if thats the problem

The K-Edge needs a derailleur that's on a welded bracket, it bolts on to the same bolt that holds your derailleur to the bracket. Mine is a band-on.

Interesting that the Specialized Roubaix spec includes a chain catcher - I will contact a Specialized dealer next week.

I've just fitted one to my carbon framed Wilier, no problems, used the hard to fit kit, well just the spacer and longer caphead.
