While I'm thinking about it, I'd recommend
https://devoncyclehire.co.uk/
as a cafe stop. Good coffees, good pasties, good ice cream, seating inside and out (covered), on the Granite Way just south of the A30/A386 junction, after the Meldon Viaduct, accessed down a 20m path.

Good call. I met the owner a couple of years ago at the end of the Exmouth Exodus.

Getting the Scott prepped for this. Will try and fit some bigger tyres if I can afford it, as well as some sort of mudguards. Might also attempt to swap to smaller chainrings, 48-38-28 instead of 52-42-30.

I have a couple of other suggestions, depending on the level of your devotion to NCN27 between Bideford and Okehampton..
Stick to the Tarka Trail till Petrockstow but then cut SE to the A386 and through Hatherleigh (maybe needed for a control but anyway a choice of a good Coop or the garage a bit lower down?)
The B road to Jacobstowe is preferable to the NCN route.
I have chosen to go to/from Porlock to get my full 200+km for AUK points.
What controls are you using or are you going mandatory by GPS?

Mandatory submission with GPX file. Happy to take advice on coffee/food recommendations ;)

Dammit, for some reason I didn't check your half term week, it's later than here, so I'm not able to join in. Bummer.
And I finished the bike today. Harrumph.

Sorry I should have been clearer. I just assumed it was all the same. I was looking forward to coffee and bending your ear about Flea, the bass guitarist from Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Another time. It’s such a great part of the work and only on my doorstep.

Pictures of the bike rules to be adhered to by the way.

Everything I've planned in terms of cycling has come to naught. Today's ride: 300m before I realised I'd not got any tools/tubes etc. This was after already returning to base from start due to forgetting my long-sleeved jacket. At which point I sunk into a torpor, and I'm yet to emerge...
