You must have strong legs, I have a 30-30 on my Allez and 32-28 on the Giant and still struggle up hills.Standard compact 34-28.
My legs can get me up long climbs ok - it's my back that tends to pack up!You must have strong legs, I have a 30-30 on my Allez and 32-28 on the Giant and still struggle up hills.
If you're doing the Cingles, start early.Planning on this in August - any advice? What gearing did you use?

Drink more than you think you'll ever need and don't rush it.
Didn't use biggest sprocket. Just stand on the pedals frequently to ease the muscles.
VERY good meal the night before.
Good luck!!
On the final ascent from Sault, the temp was 34 degrees, although cooler (obviously) at the top. Thanks, was your gearing more than adequate? I am planning on a 39-30 which is roughly equal to a 34-27, so not far off yours. I don't see the time limit as a limitation at all, but as you suggest, I am betting that dehydration will be the biggest enemy
The road is used by cars, but that descent was in the early morning. That's ace, and definitely on my wish list. I found myself moving the mouse on the screen to try and steer into the hairpins, I soon realised this had no effect.
Do cars go up the road, was it closed to cars - didn't see any on the vid.
I think the music is very fitting and captures the mood beautifully. You are, of course, perfectly entitled to your opinionLovely video except the annoying music.
48 mph seems very reasonable to me!
