I did - went to school, rode a bike, long Sunday club runs with Stafford Road Club, worked in a bike shop on Saturdays and during holidays, had a reasonable 'palmeres' as a racer - life started to get mixed up as I reached 20 but finally found a friend who pulled me back together and persuaded me to marry her.

Could have done without being dragged out of lovely rural Norfolk to grey London as a kid when my Dad got a new job there, but apart from that all good.

Brilliant. Grew up in Llangollen until age 14 in 1970 then moved just over the border to Chirk Bank. Cycling was pretty much only for transport but I used to cycle between the two places daily at weekends and holidays for jobs I had in Llan'.
