Did you ride your bike on Christmas Day?

'twas almost too windy for cycling, bottom gear when going into the wind, and a little dangerous with wind abeam, but a very fast run home . Temperature higher than normal and motor traffic just about what would be expected on a Sunday. Didn't see any other cylists on the move.

I went out with the BIL for a short 20 Km ride but I still enjoyed the experience, hopefully will get a longer one today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When i see cyclists on Christmas morning as we go to my mums for Dinner i always feel sorry for them , i think how sad they must be not to have the joy of Christmas morning, on the other hand they are prob very happy out there but i always think there are 364 other days to be out there.

Went out on a club ride on Christmas eve, Yes dressed as Santa, Had a spectacular fall trying to bump up the kerb next to my drive, left thigh very swollen & a lovely huge 10"x8" bruise, bottom of my shin/top of ankle is also swollen & displaying several pretty colours!
Did go out for a little ride yesterday, but turned for home after 6 miles, the head/side/behind/it followed me at every turn wind was pretty strong, couple of gusts nearly floored me.

Yes - 20-odd miles. It was very grey, very windy (and the wind was a bastard from the north-east), and threatening rain. But it was the first time I've been out for more than an hour in weeks. The roads weren't as quiet as they often are on Christmas Day. There were fewer cyclists than there usually are - someone on a brand-new Colnago and a woman on a hybrid with a child seat, who looked as if she was finding it tough the first time I passed her just outside the town. Then she overtook me while I was fettling, and I passed her again. Then I went the long way round one loop, and she passed me again...

Then I went back home, had a salad for lunch and a blowout in the evening.

This morning I mowed the lawn in a thin short-sleeved shirt. It felt more like April than December.

There a lot of singlke people out there who dont have family around them at christmas, dont have kids to entertain at 4am, don't have someone to share the day with, eat with, cook for etc .There are also thousand s who dont celebrate Christmas for religious or financial reasons.

No ride Christmas Day - there never is - too busy with kids, food at the in-laws. Didn't drink too much and was ready to ride today, but been up half the night with my shoulder again, and then got dragged to the Trafford Centre (went in Barton Square bit - the main 'shops' were crammed so we fled). 14c on the car temp reading - dull but very mild. Now sipping wine and internet browsing. May pop out tomorrow before we go to my folks for Xmas Day part 2 !

Santa didn't bring me a new shoulder. I'll make sure my solicitor sorts that out for 2012 !

Yep got out first thing xmas day,The Mrs was working till 3 in the afternoon,My 2 teenage sprogs
never arise from their pits till dinner, so made good my escape into the centre of Manchester
Which was totally deserted,spent a happy hour whizzing up back alleys and ginnels before heading for home

Don't be. Save it for the people on the street who haven't got a bike. Or a bed. (This is the chorus to BOAB's first verse! )
50 easy miles for me yesterday, without trying...a perfect Christmas morning for one who couldn't care too much about riding a bike!

That's a bit patronising, DiddlyDodds! Some of us can choose the way we spend Christmas day and who's to say we don't get joy from it? In the past I had many years of tedious family festive obligations and having to tolerate the tetchy rows and awful TV choices - now I can do what I like and see who I like, and I feel very lucky. I'm sure you enjoyed your Christmas too, but as Teef says, save your pity for those who really need it

Sorry if i upset/annoyed with my post , your right in some respects, so to those out and about on Christmas morning i bow down to your enjoyment.

No chance for a bike ridea s I have young children. Made do with a 10k run late in the evening when the kids were asleep. I could have had the bike on the turbo I suppose but I fancied getting out and about for a bit.
