Make the wheels with the largest diameter that you can get away with. It lowers the rolling resistance considerably.

gonna use CD for wheels

Got up about seven to get ready for the club run and its p***** down, looks like I'm home today. What's it like by you? What are those that were going out now going to do with the day? I've got some work to do on my fixed, new BB chain cog and chainset, shorter cranks, and a new tyre to fit. Was going to do it later in the month, but while its raining I might as well get it done.

I got up about half six to go to the loo, heard it thundering down outside, sighed and went back to bed. Not a lot I can do as my bike's in the LBS over the weekend having a seized BB cup removed. Boo hiss.

Normal Sunday ride fifty to sixty miles, a long one can top eighty, how many miles are you likely to do?

Did 21.5 miles in the end. I've only been back in the saddle for a couple of months so haven't touched a 50 miler yet. The time will come though

I got up at half past six, but had to stay up as I was going with my friend to Leeds, to mind her craft stall on the Farmers' Market for her while she went back home to be an artist at home for a local arts and crafts trail.

It rained all morning, and the market wasn't exactly busy. Still, I got a fair bit of knitting done. And it would have been a lousy day to have gone for a ride.

Still tipping it down now back home in York. The river'll be over the sides soon at this rate.

Pi55ing down here too this morning (was gonna be a wet Blenheim Sportive for the participants), but I'm out with Flu that I've had for the last 4 days and shows no sign of quitting... bastards.

It hasn't got to you yet then, where, roughly, in the south east are you? I was brought up in Folkestone.
I'm in the north east, the wind was from the south east, now it's from the south west.
Anyway, it was a fine day for a run on the bike, a little drizzle then the sun came out as forecast. I fear stories of an upsurge in cycling may be exaggerated, 47 road miles covered today and I didn't see another cyclist.

Chucking it down here in Brum too, but it was the British Heart Foundation Coventry bike ride, so I was out in it. Started bright and early at 9.10am (urgh) and covered 30 miles - my longest ride yet. Rained the whole time, but it wasn't always very heavy so it wasn't so bad. Both me and the bike were boggin by the time I got back. The rain wasn't so bad; it was the wind that made it a pain at times.
