I am thinking of using a disc lock with a built in alarm on my bike to immobilise the back wheel .
Has anytried this and do they work.
I am only talking about short stops ( shops cafes etc) where i would be able to hear the alarm) as they are much easier to carry
Longer stops would be doubled up with a shackle but would add the benefit of the movement alarm

Used a disc lock on the Brox in addition to the normal lock.
Used the same on the bike, fitted to the rear disc. Downside of it was/is possible damage to the frame/finish if its moved whilst in place.
Motion sensor alarms can be a pain in the rear. Used to mount one low down on the rear wheel, but heavy traffic(lorries) set it off at times.
Is it one designed & built for a bike or motorbike?

There are some available which are marketed as bike / motorcycle although the disks on most motorbikes are a lot thicker than my mtb
The damage element was was one of my concerns as anyone looking to nick the bike would not expect a disk lock and may force the bike before realising it has a lock on

It makes the bike harder to move, as they have to pick it up.
I've only seen one aimed at the bicycle market, and that could be cut with a hacksaw in no time.
The alarm might help.
