DIY Bike Fit and Analysis

No idea where this is best to go.

So I came across a video analysis program called "Kinovea" It is open source and entirely free of charge.

It was used previously for tracking motion and angles in video to analyse mainly sports performance, being able to track distance, speed, angles, acceleration, etc.

For example, with this:

You can do this (full screen viewing is ideal):

Then came the update to the experimental version, it includes an automatic bike fit! Simply record yourself on a trainer, or rollers. And drag the points onto the appropriate joints for the analysis.

I cycled part way to work and got in early to film with an SJ4000 (results would be better with a 60fps GoPro), but here is my current bike fit (Had to pedal backwards due to no trainer or rollers in work)!

All free of charge, all you need is a video camera

Comparing to this

I seem to have a good fit waist down, but could do with a shorter stem to reduce the reach. And bring my angle back to the 90 degree range.

That's definitely rather cool and I think I could use it in skating as well. Does it do the actual analysis or just the measurements?

Get the experimental version, and have a look at the tutorials on YouTube.

I've only played for a couple of days with it, but it will do the measurements, angles, speeds, motion tracking. The only thing missing, is the intelligent human to interpret the data ;) Hopefully, that's the part that us users play
