I have done it a few times now, don't know if anything has downloaded............how will I know?

Random thought but could the problems your having downloading the plugin be related to your internet security?
Another thing to try would be to run a different web browser, like firefox

May try that in the morning Andy as nothing seems to have downloaded only explorer links which do absolutely nothing when I click them, given up for tonight

Go into: Start menu - programs - you should see Garmin Communicator and Garmin Communicator something else (can't remember what the something else is as not at computer at the min)

There is/was an issue with the Garmin site / uploader.

I had it when i got a new win 7 laptop.

I forget the exact details, but it is on the web somewhere. I had to download the file as a zip, unpack it and run a certain part of it only. Sorry i forget the main details, but it was something to do with the unit being recognised.

Well no matter what I do.........it aint having it, communicator plugin just wont download from Garmin, must be a big problem on their side

Here's a cool thing - there's a third party site which you can sign up to, which will automagically copy all your Garmin Connect rides over to your Strava account too.
You know, should you feel a need to log everything on both.

I am coming to the conclusion that Garmin software is crap. got a Garmin edge 500 and no matter what I do or download...........the connect plugin simply doesn't work, my PC sees the device but that's it, I tried to email Garmin to see whats wrong and all I get is an internal http 500 error page.........finally given up, will go back to strava

Give Garmin a call.
They are far more helpful over the phone then by email.

I have just managed to get Training centre to work, that's something at least, could it be some compatibility issue as I have Win 8.1 on my laptop?
