Looks fine to me, almost new.
Are you experiencing any mechanical issues?
How many miles has it done?
You can usually get through 3 chains to one cassette.

Almost new right? Yet a reputable charity bike shop near me, measured my chain, said my chain is far gone which means the cassette needs replacing.

He used two different tools, one is more scientific and accurate he said.
I've bought one of the tools he used as he recommended I get it. It's the parktools cc 3.2.

He's ordered the parts in but I don't need to pay until I have them fitted by him. Labour is free at that place.

He pointed out the silver ridges as being wear and tear, that's when alarm bells rang in my head, because I had remembered looking online at brand new cassette's like the ones I linked above, and discovered they're present on brand new ones too.

So now I don't know what to do. Don't want bad relations with him. Want to get my bike serviced by him.

I do have issues with gearing. Took it to him but it ended up much worse. It's 3 to 4 that just won't change well. I think it's those gears. And I think another two gears too.

Just clean the one you've got ;)

That doesn't need cleaning, looks like it was only put on the bike last week

Sometimes if you let the chain get much to worn, it will also affect the cassette - or the chainring, but not always.

The only way to be sure is to try it with the new chain. If it is suddenly skipping, ten the cassette is indeed worn and needs replacing.

Gears not changing properly is not normally a cassette issue, unless you have a wrong brand of cassette (and even then only if it is a brand with a different spacing), or one with wrong number of gears for the derailleur. Worn cassette causes the chain to slip when you put pressure on it
