Have got a very good, although old workhorse

I have a good old workhorse, a 2003 Hyundai Getz, lovely old motor, but if I had the chance I'd upgrade it to something newer and better.

My 51 plate astra does an amazing job, it`s worth nothing, getting rusty around the arches, it`s done 150K, and bellows out smoke when I put my foot down, but it`s completely reliable, never lets me down, and returns nearly 70 miles to the gallon. In a softhearted way I sort of love it!!

Do you need the money for anything else?
If not, keep the car. Unless your kids are wearing last year's sneakers and going hungry

Don`t have any kids..............

I could spend the money on fitting a log burner and doing other stuff to the house, or moving to the character property/cottage that I have always wanted.............

Sell my very much loved VW Golf which is PURELY a toy, and nothing more??

Been thinking about it for a few months now, as this car sits in the garage, month after month, year after year. I only ever take it out for a bit of fun when the mood takes me, and that is only during the summer months, it covers about 500 miles/year. It really isn`t practical to keep it.

If I did sell it, I would be about 8K better off, and have an empty garage to fill up with bike stuff and set up as a pain cave:bicycle:

I wouldn`t be without wheels as I have a beaten up, smokey diesel workhorse, known as a 16 year old Vauxhall Astra.

Getting rid of the golf would be less work to do, ie cleaning, maintaining etc, less cost, one less thing to worry about.

BUT...... I`ve had that car 7 years, it`s my pride and joy (being a Golf R32), and I worked bloody hard to save for it when I bought it.

Please help me, I don`t know what to do!!:hyper:
Sell it for sure!

Sounds like you've moved on really. If you were still enjoying it, that would be different. But with the money, and the space, you can invest in something (or things) which better suit your current interest/ passion!

I wouldn't imagine it's appreciating as a classic, assuming it's depreciating, plus costing you money in tax, insurance, maintenance etc, that's a lot of lovely shiny bike bits you're wasting, in addition to your pain cave!

Anyway, if you're a true cycling enthusiast, apparently, your bike should be worth more than your car, so you can sell the golf and buy a stupidly expensive bike! (I'm not a real cycling enthusiast by this measure).
